Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth

I’ve recently noted an alarming increase in the number of printed and online resources, with specific reference to pre-prepared sermons available to pastors.

My biggest concern with these pre-prepared sermons is that they take away from the pastor the important aspect of studying the Word of God to show himself approved (2 Timothy 2:15). A similarly important aspect is the question of how certain the pastor is that the specific message is in line with God’s will for the congregation at that stage when utilizing a pre-prepared sermon or series.

The main reason I could find for these sermons is that the pastor no longer has sufficient time available for sermon preparation... My concern with this is that it shows that pastors no longer teach on and implement the basic biblical principles relating to the church structure. The structure can be referenced from Scripture as set out below:

Overseer / Pastor – 1st Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:7-11 1st Peter 5:1-3, Acts 20:28-30

Elder – 1st Timothy 5:17, Titus 1:5-6, James 5:14, Numbers 11:16-30, Acts 6:1-7

Deacon – 1st Timothy 3:8-10,

The pastor needs to primarily continue in prayer and serving the word. Subsequently, he needs to teach his leadership, i.e. elders & deacons to fulfill their respective roles where the deacons will care for the provisions to the widows and orphans along with the greater community, the elders will be the first line of assistance to the spiritual needs of the congregation, it is only when the elder cannot resolve the matter that it ought to be referred to the pastor...

The pastor must teach the congregation about the structure to prevent the congregation from controlling their schedules...Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth
